"What A Long Strange Journey It Has Been" |
|
Joe and I met in July of 2003, and thus this strange journey began. . We began our journey into the glass world in 2003 when I bought two pendants at a music festival in Manchester TN. We looked at these pendants and began to wonder how they could have been made, by the time we got home it was in our mind and hearts to find out how this was possible and so our story begins. We took a bead class with Kaleigh Hessel at Flame Kissed Beads in Cary NC working with Moretti (soft) glass. We learned a lot from her and she is a great instructor, but still the desire to learn how to make pendants burned our soul.
We took a glass class with Frank Harkinson and TJ Kennedy in Winston Salem NC working with Borosilicate (hard) glass, Frank and TJ are awesome people and wonderful instructors, thus the fire in our soul was fanned and the flames burned brighter. With the knowledge that Frank and TJ passed onto us we began making the much desired pendants and before long other glass art began to creep into our mind to be made. With these thoughts and the desire to learn more off we went to another glass class.
Boonville New York is where we were headed for this class with Chris and Jackie Rice. Lampworkers and glass-blowers, who have been published in numerous glass art magazines. Chris and Jackie are awesome, each compliment the other in their work and married life.
With each new technique we learned there are thousands left to explore that we can use in our own magical way, so the fire just burns brighter and the desires to create grow stronger.
More to come folks, ya'll come back now you here. |
